Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest park. It’s so big that even from the highest points you can often see nothing but park stretching into the distance. It’s incredibly picturesque, but most importantly it’s packed with animals. There are prolific numbers of Uganda kob, waterbuck, hartebeest, oribi, giraffe, elephants, hippopotamus and buffalo. You are likely to see lion, hyena and jackal and there’s a good chance of seeing a leopard too. Murchison Falls National Park has been a real success story in terms of the significant increase in the number of animals in the park.
Murchison Falls are spectacular. There are often rainbows in the spray and the ground shakes as the Nile plummets through a 6-metre gap in the rock. Be prepared to be cooled by the spray and enlivened by the sheer power of this natural wonder.
